Pardon My French: Presenting Battle for Athens

"Bound to do,
Now consume
this rock bottom truth grown
underground for you.
And in this town of few,
this astounding crew
It's Battle for Athens bringing sounds to you"
-Battle for Athens, "Reptillian Hemocyte"

Ritzy Fitz and Big Ballin' Tony Z are bringing French inspired hip hop out of Bellingham, WA. Hell yeah, I said Bellingham, WA. I can honestly say that I had no idea what to expect, but what I got was breath taking. These guys are so original that I can say I have never heard anything like it. You can hear a techno influence in their music which I usually shy away from, but it fits the style of music that they bring to the table. The techno mixed with hip hop aspect shows just how far hip-hop has grown, and I appreciate their music showing that versatility. On top of that, with off-the-wall titles like "Albanian Cracker Life...The Awakening," you can't help but check them out.

THE HOOD IS PRESENT: Presenting Mike Baggz

"I left the hood and came back and everythings the same. You know my status, Mr. Critically Acclaimed, tryin' to take over, revolutionize the game."
-Mike Baggz "We Even Now"

The hood just exudes from Mike Baggz, out of Amityville, New York, and you can feel it when you are listening to his music. Listening to his new video "Fine Night", it took me back to when DMX first came out. Ya know the old ruff ryder days before all the, well, you know. However, he's not just your average out the hood gangsta rapper. He is more than guns and drugs, and even though these things are mentioned in his music where needed, he has a plethora of other topics that he raps about. On top of all that, he can freestyle his ass off...check him out below...

YA' GIRL'S FAVORITE: Presenting KWA

When I first heard KWA, aka 211, I didn't know what to expect. What this rapper out of Jersey City brought to the table was versatility. It seems like he can make a song for just about anybody about anything, and this is why he appeals to the masses. KWA feels that he is what the game's been missing, "I AM HIP-HOP, I STAY LEVELED WITH MANY STYLES I DONT HAVE A CONSTANT FLOW IT SWITCHES UP." KWA will never be the artist that is stuck in the box. This internationally known artist, performing in places such as London, Africa, and Japan, is not one to sleep on. From getting hype in the club, to rollin' in the streets, to getting close with your boo, KWA's music will fit the mood. Check him out and see for yourself.

TELL THE TRUTH: Presenting Tell Ross

"I was born in the struggle. I was raised in the fire. So I aspire to acquire everything I desire."
-Tell Ross "Revolution"

Tell Ross has been beating the odds all his life, but at the tender age of nine something inspired him not to become a statistic. That something was hip-hop. Watching someone battle an addiction is never easy, but Tell Ross didn't let his mother's crack addiction stop him from doing something different with his life. If anything, it inspired him to break the mold. He wants to change how media perceives hip-hop in the black community, and hopefully with his music he will be able to achieve this goal. We think he definitely can but you be the judge!

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Presenting N.E.P.H.E.W.

Educated, articulate, and street-smart. Wait, street-smart? I bet you wasn't expecting those three words to be linked together but these words pretty much describe Chicago's own N.E.P.H.E.W. Hailing from the notorious "Wild 100's" of Chicago, IL, N.E.P.H.E.W. is attacking this hip-hop game his own way. He refuses to compromise himself or his beliefs just to get in the spotlight. Delivering his message and being a positive force in his community seems to be more of his drive. According to N.E.P.H.E.W. "Real hip hop isn't a specific type of music or genre. It's being real and true with yourself." We definitely agree!

Creative Creations Created: Presenting TC da MC

Midwest rapper TC da MC is not your average rapper. Hailing from Gary, IN aka "The Murder Capitol", he has seen a little bit of it all, but instead of succumbing to his surroundings, he decided to do something different with his time. This is definitely reflected in his music. His first mixtape "Tha Altercation" was released in July and received great reviews and over 1700 downloads the first two days. "Creative creations created. Still I'm debated and I'm disputed. This shit is wrong, so I rebuke it and I refuse to view what they call music." Those bars pretty much sum up what this blog is all about and this is why TC's new single "GRIND TIGHT" is our song of the month. Wanna hear some real music? Check him out...

Hip Hop Unburied: An Introduction

Hello World

Well this our first official post and we are really excited to showcase some great talent in this blog. Our main goal is to have this blog be an outlet for artists, producers and fans alike.

For artists, we want you to be able to have an additional outlet to promote your music. Without the financial backing of a record label, it can be very difficult to get exposure. We want to provide a cost efficient way for artists to be able to gain that exposure that they crave. We will showcase a song from a different artist each month. Every Friday, we will provide a "battle" where fans will be able to vote on what song they think is the hottest. So artist, bring your A-game because we are not holding anything back here.

For producers, we want you to be able to network with these artists. Instead of searching through lists of artists that may or may not be talented, like many of these music websites offer, why not go directly to the source. Many of the artists that will be featured in this blog will be recommended by the fans. This means that you will have first hand access to up and coming artists before many others.

For fans, we want you to be heard. You are the market that these artists are trying to reach. We want to provide a way for you to be able to have your opinions noticed. You will get to vote in the battles, as well as suggest who you think we should add to the blog. If your artists gets chosen, we will shout you out and you will get to write a small review for the artist. We want you to be able to connect with up and coming artists in these beginning stages so that you can go on the journey with them.

So let's get this show on the road people :) Fans, if you have suggestions on who you would like to see in this blog, you can leave comments to the right through facebook. You can also contact us by email at lgcuent@gmail.com. Artists, if you would like to have your music featured in our blog, please contact us by email. People are always posting things in facebook and we don't want you to get lost in the mix. Producers, email will be the best way to contact us as well.

Can't wait to hear from you,

LGCUent
